Q: How do I use my NEFCU
MasterMoney debit card?
A: You can use your MasterMoney debit
card as both a debit card for point-of-sale (POS) transactions and
as an ATM card for withdrawals from your savings and checking accounts.
|
Q: When a machine asks me
"credit" or "debit", which do I choose?
A: If you are at a POS terminal such
as a department or grocery store, convenience store, or gas station,
always choose "credit". You will need to sign the receipt
for a credit transaction. |
|
Q: So when do I need to
choose "debit"?
A: The only time you should choose
"debit" is if you are at a POS terminal that allows cash
back and you want cash back. You will then be prompted to enter
you personal identification number (PIN). If you don't want cash
back, choose "credit". Remember that debit transactions
may carry a fee imposed by an ATM/POS operator not holding your
account, such as if you were to use an ATM machine owned by another
financial institution. That financial institution may charge you
a fee to use their ATM. Be sure to inquire about any and all related
fees before choosing "debit" and entering your PIN. |
Q: Is an ATM withdrawal
a debit or credit transaction?
A: Withdrawals from ATM machines are
debit transactions because the machine requires you to enter your
PIN. With your MasterMoney debit card you can make withdrawals from
both your savings and checking accounts. Your debit card can be
used as a replacement for your ATM card. |
|
Q: How soon after a "credit"
purchase is my account debited?
A: Your account is immediately debited
for both debit and credit transactions. All transactions are real
time/on-line transactions. There is no grace period. Remember that
transactions performed with your debit card may be subject to fees
imposed by ATM/POS locations not owned or operated by NEFCU. Always
inquire about fees before completing your transaction. |
